Job Purpose
As our technology landscape changes, we are increasing the use of open source web technologies with a number of high profile projects and programmes that will enable you to expand your skill set and experience
These include the integration of a new cloud-based Events system, site search implementation, mobile app and College website CMS upgrade all based on Windows and Linux servers running PHP, JavaScript and Java applications
This is an exciting time to join the Web & Mobile team as we are embarking on a new DevOps programme and you will be pivotal in ensuring the continuous delivery of web and mobile applications to the College
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the ICT Web Development Team Lead you will work closely with the Digital Communications team in delivering new products and supporting the college web estate including the College website CMS, News & Events applications, Web Pages and the Imperial Mobile app (CampusM)
You will be responsible for web application development, including solutions design, delivery and testing through the full development lifecycle through to ongoing support, documentation and maintenance of the web estate
It will be key that you have a solid background in full stack development including front and backend web and database development working with PHP, JavaScript and SQL
Working with stakeholders you will act as a subject matter expert to ensure you deliver value and process improvements to our products, as well as helping to drive best practice and industry standards across the web & mobile team
Core Skills
The successful candidate must have:
- Strong all round development skills ideally with experience working with an enterprise Content Management Systems, mobile and web based applications
- Strong hands on experience of PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and frameworks including MVC and REST
- Strong experience of database development including SQL and MYSQL
- Experience of Unit Testing and use of GIT for Version Control
- Experience and understanding of UX/UI design and methods
- Understanding of web infrastructure and architecture design
- Ability to work with customers, analysts and developers in an AGILE SCRUM environment
- Ability to interact and negotiate effectively with internal customers and external suppliers
- Ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously in a large complex environment

- Able to maintain strong and open relationship with all colleagues through the use of proven inter-personal and communication skills
