Your tasks
- Make sure that LOVOO is always online by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health and taking countermeasures when needed
- On-call operations and sustainable incident response with actionable post mortems
- Applying and adapting Site Reliability Engineering principles on processes & services
- Design and build software, libraries, how-tos and training sessions to enable and support product teams running services on their own successfully
- Combination of software engineering with operation needs in a cloud environment (GCP) with performance, reliability and large-scale in mind
- Participation in hackathons as well as national and international conferences
Our requirements
- Hands-on mentality and willingness for on-call incident response shifts
- Profound knowledge about Site Reliability principles and strategies is a big plus
- Relevant knowledge in dealing with PHP/Go or at least two high programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Rust, C/C++ or Erlang
- Experience in development of medium-/ large-scale web applications and distributed systems
- Secure handling of common design and architectural patterns
- Knowledge of various backend technologies (e
g
microservices, docker, gRPC, HTTP/2
0, SQL, Redis/memcached) - Familiar with Google Cloud (or AWS) and its concepts and services
- Solid knowledge in container technology with in-depth professional experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana
- Knowledge of the network stack incl
routing (e
g
BGP) - Sound knowledge of common algorithms and data structures
- Practical experience in agile software development and process management (Scrum/ Kanban) and ideally also in working in cross-functional teams
- Experience with Kubernetes, Cassandra, Redis , PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Google BigQuery or Google Spanner is a plus
- Independent, reliable and structured way of working
- Interest in Open Source as well as willingness for a continuing education
- Excellent communication skills in German or English
