The platform/infrastructure of Vandebron is growing rapidly because of new developments in electric mobility, smart charging and new energy products
In this role you are eager to get your hands dirty on all different technologies in our stack
Our way of working demands DevOps engineers to take swift actions while building robust future proof infrastructure
This can-do mindset makes sure we can continue to scale our platforms
Vandebron is a flat organization so you’ll be able to get in direct contact with the business
You will be part of a functional scrum-team, but also form a ‘virtual’ team with other DevOps engineers
Our teams are highly self-organized following agile development practices
We always strive for innovation and we are always open to experiment with new technologies that might suit our needs
What will you do?
- You are responsible for building robust future proof infrastructure
- You take control and innovate on our existing and future infrastructure/platforms
- You balance your focus towards operational tasks and building new innovative products, in the always limited amount of time
- You join daily stand-ups, regular demos and weekly team retrospectives are part of our process to constantly improve our software
What is your profile?
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- You have a broad devops technology background
We use various (open source) tools in our infrastructure running on AWS and Azure
We do not expect you to have all of these skills, but experience with/willingness to learn these tools is part of this position

- Our developers use backend technologies Scala and Python
Therefore experience with JVM is prefered
- You are passionate about (the listed) technologies and like to motivate and teach other developers by sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm
- You are flexible in multitasking and able to set the right priorities
- You are a proactive problem solver, ensuring continuity of daily operation while keeping the long term goals in mind
- You are a quick learner and keep yourself up-to-date with market trends and developments
- You are analytical and structured and abel to work effectively under pressure
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both English and Dutch
Do you get enthusiastic about our innovative stack at Vandebron?
- Vandebron runs on AWS and Azure cloud platforms
- In our infrastructure-as-code we use Terraform to deploy our infrastructure to AWS and Azure
Ansible is used for our configuration management and we are building our images with Packer
- Our infrastructure core components are based on Mesos / DCOS, we mainly deploy docker containers and UCR containers
- Some of the applications our Developers build use the SMACK stack, we assist in debugging these setups
- When we deploy applications that hold state we mainly use NoSQL, databases or storage solutions, examples; Cassandra, MongoDB, Elastic, MySQL, Postgres, S3
Our team is responsible for managing and maintaining these solutions
- Our metrics are collected in a Prometheus/Grafana setup, our Logs are in an ELK setup
- Scripting language
You are able to automate your solutions in either a bash script or in the automation tooling we use
Big plus is some experience with Golang or Python
- In our environment we run Spark workloads on Autoscaling spot instances, we use NiFi in most of these setups
Our autoscaling setup is made in NiFi
- We support our Data scientists with setting up Jupyter notebooks
- Our deployment pipeline is on top of an auto scaling Jenkins setup
- We use 3 proxy/load balancing solutions: HAProxy, Traefik and NGINX
