Senior Backend Engineer @ Arweave

Arweave is a permanent information storage network, where permanence is achieved by the economic incentives built into a blockchain
We are working to solve the problem of the ‘memory hole’, as formulated by George Orwell in Nineteen Eighty-Four, by making the first data storage medium that never forgets
Arweave works by rewarding network participants for storing data
If you like the challenge of engineering an independent peer to peer network and a decentralized economy, dealing with exciting algorithms and bits of statistical problems, cryptography, mechanism design, economics, and OS architecture, then we are looking for you
Responsibilities
- Work in the core protocol team to grow and improve the Arweave protocol & network
- Take part in every step of development: designing & planning, structuring, implementing, testing, deploying, monitoring & instrumenting, and maintaining
Profile
- A passion for or eagerness to learn about blockchains
- Solid understanding of CS fundamentals
- Solid understanding of functional programming (we use Erlang)
- At least several years of experience working on a server-side software in a team, writing production-level code
- Substantial experience in working with various types of databases
- Good understanding of the computer and OS architecture basics
- Ability to work in a very fast-paced, agile, and dynamic environment
- Solid understanding of asymmetric cryptography
