Job Summary

We are hiring a Compliance Manager/specialist to manage the complete FinCrime spectrum (eg anti-money laundering, anti-fraud, combating terrorist financing and anti-bribery and corruption) and the Bank of Spain Financial reports on a Monthly/Quarterly/Bi-annually and Annual basis
This position consists of inter-departmental communication that requires thorough investigation analysis and is very detail oriented
The post-holders primary focus will be to work closely with our Treasury, Finance, Channel Management, Legal and Compliance departments; compiling all data and filling out all necessary reports

  • A relevant university degree (preferably in Law, finance or economics)
  • Desirable: MBA or Masters in Finance, CAMS, CFE
  • High English & Spanish proficiency
  • High level of knowledge in Spanish financial accounting, including a good understanding of current and pipeline Spanish accounting changes
  • Ability to understand and challenge technically complex Financial Crime and Money Laundering topics
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proactive and solution orientated
    Ability to challenge and query the existing setup and find value adding opportunities by delivering new solutions
  • Ability to create long relationships with internal clients and colleagues, manage expectations and generate confidence

  • Proven self-starter, able to work autonomously under remote supervision in a changing environment
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Bank of Spain and other Regulatory authorities
  • Previous experience in preparing Bank of Spain periodic reports and relationship
  • Reconciliation knowledge
  • Audit background not required but would be advantageous
  • Knowledge on Spanish laws & financial regulations as it relates to Cross border remittances
  • Experience with SAP is an added advantage

Responsibilities

  • To lead implementation of a financial crime (eg anti-money laundering, anti-fraud, combating terrorist
  • financing and anti-bribery and corruption) program and monitor compliance across all relevant parts of the Group and any outsourced functions

  • Review internal policies and procedures to ensure appropriate measures are in place to ensure
  • compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering Terrorist Financing (CFT), and Know Your

  • Customer (KYC) in Spain and European jurisdictions related to TransferZero operations
  • Contribute to annual revisions, as necessary, of TransferZero’s AML Policy and implementing procedures
  • To maintain understanding of jurisdictional risk relating to financial crime
  • Review new business/MTO customer sign ups as part of KYC process and participate in creation of automatic screening tools for the same alongside Chief Product Officer and/or Chief Technical Officer
  • Identify and investigate suspicious customer activity within Spain, larger Europe, and African regions of operations and prepare reports on the same
  • To conduct an annual risk assessment relating to financial crime and incorporate conclusions into current policies and requirements
    This includes leading an annual update to the Prevention of Money laundering and Terrorist Financing Manual (AML Manual) gaining sign-off from MLRO and Executive
  • To agree with managements remediation plans for all incidence of non-compliance with policy/procedure and follow up implementation on a timely basis, escalating to Head of Department and relevant Executive Director as necessary
  • To make practical and acceptable recommendations where systems and procedures are in need of enhancing to counter the risk of financial crime
  • To prepare regular reports on the outputs of the Compliance program to the Executive team summarizing key issues, results, conclusions and actions taken
  • Participate in the analysis and implementation of local regulations applicable to the TransferZero Spanish business, with specific focus on Bank of Spain/CNMV Circulars
  • Participate in the preparation and review of the local regulatory reporting to Bank of Spain and CNMV, ensuring flawless delivery of regulatory obligations
  • Interact with upstream CFO and non-CFO teams, such as Group Ops, IT and CRO to ensure CFO data requirements are understood and met in a timely and adequate manner
  • Respond in a timely and accurate manner to any queries raised by line management or other stakeholders regarding accounting and financial reporting in Spain
  • Set adequate control policies and processes and ensure adequate procedural documentation for financial reporting activities
  • To prepare and maintain the Organization’s Country Risk Profile that assesses potential territorial exposure to money laundering and terrorist financing
  • To advise on the development and maintenance of, and signing-off where appropriate, fighting financial crime procedures
  • Conduct Annual Training for all employees and provide updates on new regulations
  • Key point of contact in Spain for Compliance AML CFT and financial reporting matters, being able to provide independent advice and high quality input to any queries raised by local management or the Group
  • Support the implementation of new and enhanced controls (including input data quality controls for AML, financial reporting and other monitoring processes) and risk mitigating actions to ensure adequate control of the business
    Act promptly on warning signals to minimize financial and operational risk and ensure timely compliance with internal controls and standards
  • Ensure adequate, timely, complete and transparent communication and escalation to line management
  • An in-depth knowledge of the private banking business performed in Spain and the operating model of each business will need to be developed to successfully fulfill these responsibilities
  • Able to work remotely in a fast changing environment and build an excellent day to day professional relationship with teams in other locations
  • Prepare the periodical reports submission to the Bank of Spain
  • Prepare and analyse the reconciliation of Bank of Spain reports to internal reports
  • Respond to inquiries on the reports and co-ordinate with the internal teams on the responses
  • Coordinate with financial controller to oversee conversion of Financial Statements to the Spanish GAAP
  • Prepares the periodical reports submission to the BoS by liaising with necessary parties internally
  • Has a thorough knowledge of TransferZero business and is able to answer queries and lead reviews done by BoS
  • Has a detailed knowledge of BoS reports and what needs to be reported and ensures timely reporting and coordination with internal departments
