This role will be broadly responsible for building out the business and running its regulated broker-dealer activities

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Kraken executive leadership and other senior stakeholders to shape and execute the overall strategic direction for the US Equities business
  
• Oversee US Equities business implementation, ongoing day-to-day operations, and scaling efforts to achieve defined objectives/outcomes, and drive its commercial success
  
• Serve as a licensed Series 24 supervisory principal of the broker-dealer entity
  
• Clearly define, document, and communicate business requirements, and direct the project planning/management process through completion
  
• Lead cross-functional working groups across operations, compliance, product and engineering to build customer offerings and business processes integrated into the broader Kraken platform, providing a seamless online/mobile trading and investing experience
  
• Hire/manage a dedicated core team of high performing and appropriately licensed personnel, and effectively partner with shared service resources across the organization
  
• Identify and address applicable legal, regulatory, and compliance standards
  
• Establish appropriate programs, policies, procedures, processes, personnel, oversight, controls, reporting, risk management, and other related mechanisms for a sound operation
  
• Interact and ensure good standing with relevant regulators, the successful completion of regular audits/exams, and effective responses to any interim inquiries
  

Requirements

• Previous leadership role at a US securities business (broker-dealer, registered investment advisor, etc
  ), ideally within a FinTech startup or other online/tech centric company
  
• Familiarity working with technology, product/engineering teams, and within a global enterprise environment
  
• Series 24 license required (existing license strongly preferred, ability to acquire within 30-60 days considered)
  
• Experience in licensed financial services operations, navigating relevant regulations, and interfacing directly with regulators
  
• Demonstrated success leading cross-organizational efforts, implementation projects, operations scaling, and/or process improvement initiatives
  
• Strong organizational, communication and presentation abilities, including to executive level audiences
  
• Developed analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skill sets
  
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and adept at learning new functions
  
• Team oriented philosophy, with the ability to coach and mentor associates
