The team you’ll work with

 The mission of the Data Platform team is to empower easy access to data
The team owns the whole data stack including our data warehouse, data ingestion, BI tools and overall data quality
Our team plays a major part with compliance as we drive initiatives such as data governance to ensure Anchorage complies with regulations
In addition, we build data products for both internal and external customers which bring significant insights into every aspect of the business
The impact

You will be playing a critical role in building out the foundation of our data stack and working on initiatives powering our day-to-day business
It is a force-multiplier development role that allows an engineer to have an impact broadly across Anchorage engineering, data science and business
Engineers and data scientists will appreciate the ease of accessing the data while the business will appreciate the insights provided by the data in order to better serve our customers

The problems you'll solve

    • Drive projects which set up the foundations that enable everyone in the company such as data scientists, compliance to effectively self-serve and leverage data
    • Create a self-serve data ingestion framework to help teams load data into our data warehouse quickly
    • Build and operate metadata management as well as orchestration systems to ensure our data is discoverable & understandable so that our pipelines can run reliably
    • Design monitoring and alerting systems to guarantee data quality
    • Deliver critical initiatives such as data governance to keep Anchorage comply with regulations

You may be a fit for this role if

You have expertise with big data systems such as BigQuery, Airflow, Spark, Flink and dbt
You have experience with cloud-based infrastructure and data services (GCP, AWS, Azure, et al) and data tooling
You have experience building data pipelines with a proven track record of delivering results that impact the business

While experience with specific languages isn’t a requirement our stack is the below

Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GCP, REST and GraphQL
Engineering methodologies:

Reverse uptime, cryptographically linked data models, air gapped infrastructure, secure execution environments, and infra-as-code
