The Core Cryptography org provides the building blocks that deliver state of the art crypto forward technology, cryptographic primitives and services that power Coinbase and our customers to create and deliver new crypto products and service offerings
  As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be joining the team that delivers highly-secure, scalable crypto signing platforms and owns/manages the lifecycle of a key on behalf of Coinbase customers, both retail and institutional

What you’ll be doing:

• Architect and develop distributed crypto systems and platforms that are responsible for storing hundreds of billions of dollars securely
   
• Design and build our next-gen Hot Wallet and Cold Storage platform offerings
  
• Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
  
• Build and implement bleeding edge MPC cryptography services to augment our platform offerings ( Distributed KeyGen, Key Escrow, and other critical services)
   
• Productize our services as a SaaS offering to external crypto applications and developers
   
• Manage individual projects priorities and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Design and implement foundational infrastructure components used by every engineering team in production ( dynamic configuration, secrets storage, container orchestration, etc)
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers

What we look for in you:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• You’ve experienced architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
• You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together

 Nice to haves:

• You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers)
• You have experience with Blockchains (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum etc
  )
• You have an understanding of Applied Cryptography
  
• You have experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices
• You’ve worked with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres
• You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems

Pay Transparency Notice:  Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range from $201,450 to $237,000 + target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k))
