Our reporters and editors are constantly on the lookout for the most important breaking news stories that help our audience navigate the ever changing crypto landscape
From industry defining scoops to in-depth investigations, The Block’s newsroom sets the standard for crypto journalism globally
We are currently seeking a Weekend Editor to help spearhead our Saturday and Sunday coverage, publishing breaking news, features and paywalled exclusives
The hiring range for this role is between $30 to $50 per hour
Pay within the provided range will be refined based on candidate's skills, experience, and location

Responsibilities

    • Identify, assign, produce and publish news stories on Saturday and Sunday during key business hours
       
    • Operate The Block’s social media channels to distribute weekend content
    • Coordinate with staff writers and editors on publishing content over the weekend, including paywalled features and exclusive stories
    • Work with The Block’s senior news staff on identifying the types of stories to cover over the weekend, including breaking market and business news developments
    • Coordinate with senior news staff on coverage, with extra resources assigned as needed to help cover busy weekend periods

Qualifications

    • Previous experience editing complex, financial news stories
    • Experience or interest in cryptocurrency / digital assets preferred
    • Ability to juggle multiple stories and deadlines
    • Passion for technology, with a dash of skepticism where warranted
    • English-language writing or editing experience
    • Experience with cryptocurrency and blockchain a bonus but not mandated
