The Market Surveillance team, an integral part of the Data Intelligence department, works at the heart of the Exchange. Its role is to understand market behavior, keep clients safe from manipulation and ensure that Bitstamp’s Market Integrity is not compromised. With a keen eye on evolving regulation, we take a data driven approach to providing insights into changing patterns of trading activity through advanced statistical methods. We are looking for Junior and Senior Associates with a keen interest in trading, compliance, good communication skills and a structured approach to analysis. We expect solid knowledge of MySQL and experience from working with visualization tools. Some understanding of Institutional and Algorithmic trading practices would be a distinct advantage in the role. What you’ll do
- Analysing markets, order book and trade activity, fund flows and behaviour.
- Working closely with a Market Order Book replay tool to either corroborate suspicious alert triggers or determine whether mitigating factors exist.
- Aiding social media and customer support representatives to improve fact-based responses to client queries .
- Providing expertise on rules of Order book interaction and market microstructure.
- Keeping up to date with global regulatory developments around market manipulation and insider trading.
- Providing data intelligence to support investigation of suspicious activities highlighted by manipulation detection alerts.
- Working hand in hand with Compliance regional teams and a Global Compliance Ops team filing reports and responding to regulator’s queries.
- Provide insights into Institutional and Algorithmic trading practices.
On day one you’ll bring
- Very good knowledge of MySQL or similar.
- An understanding of trading terminology.
- An interest of Exchange Order Book operations.
- Capacity to work and deliver either independently or as a part of a smaller, diverse team.
- Great attention to details and preciseness in day-to-day work.
- Ability to process, visualize and interpret data.
- Active knowledge of English.
