Cryptography Engineer

The role involves the design and implementation of cryptography techniques to build, maintain and enrich the functionalities of Fetch’s decentralised smart-ledger technology. Interested candidates will be provided with multiple opportunities to work at the intersection of AI/ML and cryptography/security.

We are working at the cutting edge of cryptography, artificial intelligence, distributed computation and economics, and are therefore looking for people with a desire to create novel solutions for complex problems. A good mathematical background is, of course, essential as are programming skills in Python or C/C++.

Cryptography Engineers must have these vital skills:

  • A BSc/MSc in Cyber Security/Computer Science/Mathematics or a related field with previous exposure to programming with cryptography
  • Demonstrable skills in one or more of the following: systems security/protocol design/distributed computing
  • Proven track record of independently and successfully driving projects

Software engineering skills:

The Position

  • Developing a 1-click deployment service for Fetch.AI network nodes (this is a complex webservice)

Das Referat DI 11 ist ein sehr technisch aufgestelltes Referat, dass sich zunächst eingehend mit Identifikations­technologien aus­einander­setzt. Hierzu zählen biometrische Verfahren und Systeme zur Identifikation von Personen, aber auch das Physical Finger­printing zur Identifikation von drahtlosen Devices. Daneben unter­suchen wir Verfahren zur verteilten Integritäts­sicherung wie die Blockchain-Technologie und geben eine Technische Richtlinie zur Aufrechterhaltung des Beweis­wertes signiertes Daten über längere Zeiträume heraus. Darüber hinaus unterstützen und beraten wir unter­schiedliche Digitalisierungs-Arbeitsbereiche innerhalb des BSI wie z.B. Automotive Security, Banking oder Smart Borders bei speziellen IT-Sicherheits­fragestellungen. Initial zur technischen Unter­stützung der europäischen Smart Borders Initiative betreibt DI 11 ein Biometrie-Evaluations­zentrum, um reale biometrische Systeme zu untersuchen.

Ihre Tätigkeiten umfassen:

  • Durchführung von Schwachstellenuntersuchungen an biometrischen Systemen
  • Entwicklung neuer Angriffs- als auch Prüfverfahren für biometrische Systeme
  • Vorbereitung, Organisation, Durchführung und Auswertung von Tests an biometrischen Systemen mit größeren Probandengruppen
  • Entwicklung von technischen Musteraufbauten, Automatisierung von Tests als auch Testauswertung und Dokumentation sowie
  • Forschung und Entwicklung in den Bereichen: Detektion von Fälschungs- als auch Morphingangriffen sowie verbesserte Template-Protection-Verfahren zum Schutz biometrischer Daten

Sie sind eine kreative Persönlichkeit und wollen als Teil unseres Teams dazu beitragen, die Sicherheit biometrischer Systeme für Staat und Gesellschaft nachhaltig zu verbessern. Sie bringen mit:

  • API Layer (API Management, SOAP and REST)
  • Technologies (CMS – Adobe, Episerver. Commerce – Episerver etc. Azure API)
  • Server Side Layer (Java, C#, Node J.S etc.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior leaders of the business to grow and scale the technology community
  • Ensure that we are hiring and retaining top talent
  • Accumulate market know-how, industry and technology trends, to enhance and manage knowledge on projects
  • Advising teams and clients on latest technology trends/decisions
  • Ability to be hands on if necessary to mentor and grow talent
  • Ensure that our projects are leveraging common methods and best practice
  • Consult clients’ senior technical leaders on best practice points of view on Next Generation Platforms.
  • Lead design, estimation, planning and implementation of IT system related business solutions.
  • Lead business development and proposal work, developing client relationships at all levels.
  • Deliver compelling presentations to senior internal and client stakeholders.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Several years of experience in enterprise architecture, design patterns and implementation of custom developed solutions (and/or product integration projects)
  • Extensive experience designing high scale, highly transactional, high performance, highly available systems and robust applications
  • Experience of working to an Agile methodology – Agile, Scrum, Kanban
  • Experience in a consulting or client-facing role in large organisations
  • Team leadership experience leading globally distributed small and medium sized teams including people including managerial experience
  • Mentoring and coaching abilities to ensure growth
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry highly desired
  • Experience of managing the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Openness to travel
