We do things that matter. And foremost, we make people speak their new language as they’ve always wanted to. Come work with us.

Meeting that means ensuring users see themselves reflected —not just in our product— but the world it allows them to imagine with us. That means reflecting the dynamism and diversity of our users, as much as possible, in the production of Babbel. We currently have 600 people from more than 50 nationalities working in our Berlin and New York offices, challenging and learning from each other at every step. Mobile Engineering Manager at Open Signal

Super opportunity for a Mobile Engineering manager to join rapidly expanding data analytics experts in the heart of London.

The role has two key functions – drive the high-level strategy of our mobile offering, optimising the architecture of our mobile SDK which is gathering mobile data at an incredible scale – and manage and continue to grow our mobile team.

You will be building a new more modular SDK as well as rewriting much of the code base into Kotlin. You will not be doing the coding but more reviewing the code and acting as a point of escalation for the team.

There will also be a level of product guidance – you will write engineering specs on larger pieces of work, determining code style, reviewing and ensuring code quality and advising on tooling used in the team. You will be responsible for the management and guidance of the team extending to weekly career focused one-to-one discussions, career progression and keeping an eye on the product roadmap.

It’s imperative you have strong Android development experience and have managed IOS developers– ideally, this work will have focused on a high user base app or had a degree of complexity around performance and security. You will be comfortable taking an idea from inception – research, proof of concept – estimations, writing complicated engineering specs from product, through to build, completion and deployment and you will have an appreciation of at least one of the SOLID principles

Previous leadership experience is essential – also important is the drive and passion to move into a dedicated leadership role. You should be able to show you have worked throughout a product or feature lifecycle – from inception and estimations through to completion and deployment

We’re proud of a relaxed, diverse, focused team – we offer flexibility as needed with benefits such as WFH if required. The office has 20 nationalities and counting!

Open Signal work in partnership with Talent Point, a Hiring Communications business, who have designed this role on behalf of Open Signal. When you apply, Abbie will give you a call and she’ll tell you even more details about the role and help you through every step of the process.
