Director, Financial Crimes Transaction Monitoring

What you’ll be responsible for: 

Circle is looking for a transaction monitoring expert to join our Financial Crimes Compliance team. Reporting to the Global Head of Financial Crimes Compliance, the Director, Financial Crimes Transaction Monitoring, will be responsible for enhancing the design of our global AML/CTF transaction monitoring program, across both fiat and crypto. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with financial intelligence, data and engineering teams to design transaction monitoring systems and scenarios, and is looking to find creative approaches to detect financial crimes in the fast-changing crypto ecosystem.

What you’ll work on: 

  • Owning Circle’s global AML/CTF transaction monitoring program, including definition of scenarios, rules and thresholds.
  • Working closely with the Financial Intelligence Unit and Investigations Operations teams to enhance transaction monitoring based on SARs filed and broader ecosystem intelligence.
  • Partnering with Compliance Data & Technology, Product, and Engineering teams to implement enhancements to the transaction monitoring systems.
  • Driving scenario testing and tuning exercises to identify optimal transaction monitoring scenarios and thresholds.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the overall efficacy of the transaction monitoring program, including but not limited to, use of machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect unusual activity.
  • Staying at the forefront of money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crimes risks and typologies, and technologies to detect suspicious activity.

What you’ll bring to Circle: 

  • A passion for harnessing the power of digital currency and blockchain technology and services built on top of it.
  • B.A./B.S. degree; quantitative or technical degree a plus.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in AML/CTF, with a minimum of 5+ years developing transaction monitoring programs.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and leading teams. 
  • Deep knowledge of global financial crimes transaction monitoring programs and systems.
  • Deep understanding of cryptocurrency transactions, risks and typologies.
  • Experience with blockchain analytics and monitoring platforms, such as TRM Labs, Chainalysis or Elliptic.
  • An innovative and creative mind looking to suggest new solutions to old problems.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively and effectively with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Experience and comfort working in an ever changing industry and the flexibility to quickly react to changing demands.
  • CGSS, CAMS, or CFCS certification is a plus.
  • Experience/familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS and GSuite.

Overview

We are looking for a Detection and Response Engineer to join us in the Security Response Team here at BitMEX. If you have a keen eye for detail and believe that successful Security Response activities begin with proactive hunting and competent engineering, we want to talk to you.

This is a remote position for the Central Europe regions. Occasional overnight and weekend on-calls are required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for threat detection and monitoring of high fidelity security alerts (that you will have a hand in defining)
  • Perform Incident Response activities to resolve security incidents and minimize risk for the organization
  • Identify security gaps and implement constant improvements to our security stack
  • Communicate effectively with lines of business and clients to address complex information security issues

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience working in a Security Operations role and experience handling security incidents from triage to remediation

  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services
  • Strong knowledge of Security frameworks such as Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK and how they can be used to understand and defend against cyber attacks.

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Salesforce Operations Specialist to optimize the efforts of our Sales and Business Development team from lead generation to account management. You will also lead, design and enhance BitMEX’s Salesforce ecosystem from end to end and create executive level reports to communicate sales KPIs and performance. The base salary range for this full-time position is $160k – $260k. This role demands a high level of proficiency and experience in comparison to junior engineering positions. The Senior Atlassian Engineer collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including developers, project managers, and system administrators, to optimize workflows, streamline processes, and elevate collaboration through Atlassian's ecosystem.

The Opportunity

    • Provide strategic implementation and configuration of Atlassian Data Center products to align with organizational requirements.
    • Design and develop advanced customizations, plugins, scripts, and integrations to extend the capabilities of Atlassian Data Center tools.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather complex requirements and offer technical leadership on best practices for leveraging Atlassian Data Center instances.
    • Dive into intricate technical issues that arise within the Atlassian toolset on a daily basis, employing a systematic and analytical approach to identify root causes and implement effective resolutions.
    • Continuously design, develop, and refine custom plugins, scripts, and integrations that extend the capabilities of Atlassian products, tailoring them to the changing needs of different teams.
    • Jira Service Management configuration for a variety of teams including modifying forms, request types, workflows and more. 
    • Stay current with the latest features and updates in Atlassian Data Center offerings, evaluating their suitability for organizational needs.
    • Regularly assess the applicability of new features and updates in Atlassian products, strategically evaluating their potential to enhance collaboration and productivity within the organization.
    • Provide timely and responsive management of technical issues reported by users, addressing their concerns and providing guidance to ensure optimal tool utilization.
    • Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear explanations to bridge the gap between technical and business perspectives.

Skills you should HODL

    • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on Atlassian products and Data Center instances.
    • 3 years of experience in Jira software, Jira Service Management and Confluence
    • Proven track record of designing, implementing, and customizing Atlassian Data Center solutions for complex organizational needs.
    • Experience with scripting, automation, and API integrations.
    • Strong understanding of enterprise-level architecture, scalability, and performance optimization principles.
    • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical challenges within Atlassian Data Center environments.
    • Proven ability to troubleshoot performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions.

Nice to Haves

    • Helpdesk experience using tools like OKTA, VPNs, and other System Administration roles.
    • Computer Science or related degree.
    • Atlassian certification(s) (ACP-100, ACP-610).
    • Consulting experience with an Atlassian Partner.
    • Experience working in an environment of greater than 10,000 users.

This role will help oversee the Vendor Management Policy and Program, and will help facilitate the enabling of the broader Vendor Management team members with tools and resources to standardize the processes for onboarding new vendors, managing existing vendors, monitoring performance and mitigating risk through various metrics. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a rapidly expanding industry and contribute to the building of the new global financial system.This role is 100% remote.

What You'll Do:

    • Help design and roll-out a vendor lifecycle management framework to oversee planning and risk assessment, sourcing and selection of new vendors, manage data for vendor performance and manage vendor off-boarding
    • Establish strong relationships with new and existing suppliers
    • Assist in all audits related to supplier management
    • Identify operational deficiencies and escalate them to the appropriate resource before they become problematic
    • Identify risks associated with key vendors and manage / monitor supplier performance against negotiated SLA and MSA terms 
    • Help support the develop of monthly reporting, facilitating Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers, and develop Annual Supplier Portfolio Summary report
    • Proactively collaborate with business partners, strategic sourcing and vendor risk stakeholders to operationalize the Vendor Management program, resolve supplier performance issues, and timely resolution
    • Review existing contracts and understand business requirements; formulate guidelines and design standard vendor contract protocols 
    • Deliver relevant training content to business stakeholders to ensure a consistent vendor relationship management framework
    • Supporting other ad hoc projects as needed

Skills You Should HODL:

    • 5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement or vendor management experience; in a high growth technology environment preferred 
    • Experience working with contracts including understanding of Data Protection Agreements, Master Services Agreements, and execution of Statements of Work and Order Forms
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferably in Procurement, Business Administration or related field. MBA/advanced technical degree preferred 
    • Must be comfortable in a ‘roll-up your sleeves’ environment 
    • Strong relationship building, communication and project management to demonstrate project status, key actions, risks and opportunities 
    • Self-directed, able to work independently, as well as work in a team-orientated and fast paced environment 
    • Nimble with ability to take decisive action to address business needs that meet corporate business objectives
    • Ability to navigate through a global framework, handle conflicting priorities and goals
    • Experience in fintech, banking industry and/or financial markets is preferred
    • Experience with cryptocurrencies and knowledge of blockchain technology is preferred
    • Working knowledge of vendor management platforms and tools
