Responsibilties

    • Ensure that all time entries by external firms are reasonable and comply with our billing guidelines.
    • Cost management – identify and address any discrepancies or overcharging in bills and work with external counsel to reach a favourable resolution.
    • Work closely with the internal legal and finance teams to ensure that budgets are adhered to and invoices are properly reviewed.
    • Build and maintain good working relationships with external firms to facilitate strong controls over billing practices.
    • Maintain accurate records of all billing reviews, communications, and resolutions. Prepare regular reports to highlight any trends, issues, or areas for improvement.
    • Assist in updating our billing guidelines, policies and processes to ensure they remain current and effective.
    • Provide training and guidance to internal teams and external counsel on billing guidelines and best practices.

Requirements

    • At least 3 years PQE as a practicing lawyer.
    • Prior experience in litigation is preferred.
    • Technologically savvy – confident in your ability to master third-party spend management software and perform basic coding in Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong negotiation skills – your ability to negotiate with external firms and third party vendors will be tested and will be an OKR.
    • Prior experience in the crypto and blockchain industry is preferred but not necessary.

    • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficiency in project management and productivity tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Asana, or similar).
