POSITION OVERVIEW

ShapeShift is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to build and maintain platform infrastructure for this growing organization. The Site Reliability Engineer will be leveraging Docker container orchestration and CI platforms to ensure maximum performance and availability of ShapeShift’s software services, evolving our metric collection and reporting infrastructure to provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of these services to the business, and serve as an ambassador of DevOps culture to our internal engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess expert-level ability with core AWS technologies (ECS, IAM, VPC, RDS, ElastiCache), Hashicorp Terraform, and CircleCI. This position offers a unique opportunity to help revolutionize the Financial-Technical Services industry simply by doing what you already love to do: Build stuff to run things.

This is a full-time, exempt position, and reports to the Engineering Manager.

GOALS OF POSITION

• Maintain maximum reliability and uptime of business-critical services.
• Provision new systems, maintain existing systems, and migrate legacy systems to new infrastructure.
• Provide insight into business and infrastructure performance via development, implementation, and monitoring of software-based Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Triage and resolve unplanned issues as they arise.
• Categorize, generate acceptance criteria for, and create action items for new, unplanned work requirements.  

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

• Proven experience maintaining a complex, microservice-based architecture.
• Ability to fabricate achievable, deliverable action items from monolithic business requirements.
• Ability to constructively and empathetically communicate with your customer base, consisting of software engineering teams with varying ranges of technical expertise.
• Ability to work independently, enthusiastically, and creatively.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Professional experience with Linux in a high volume, high-availability environment.
• Proficiency using Hashicorp Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure in AWS.
• Strong literacy and experience with Docker and Kubernetes (Amazon ECS is a plus).
• Proficiency at deploying and managing infrastructure and software with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tooling (CircleCI).
• Deep understanding of AWS core technologies (ECS/EC2, VPC, IAM, ALB, RDS, ElastiCache).

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Experience operating blockchain clients or nodes (bitcoind, parity, geth).
• Familiarity with financial markets and terminology, exchange and trade platforms, and matching engines.
• Experience with metric collection and visualization platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc).
• Experience with MEAN stack (Mongo, Express.js, Angular, NodeJS).
• Experience using JIRA for Agile process-driven development.

REQUIRED TRAVEL

No travel is required for this position.

Being available for an on-call rotation in the event of a crisis is desirable — actually being summoned after-hours is a rarity.

What you’ll be responsible for:

The primary responsibility of the position is day-to-day management and administration of Circle’s global regulatory reporting.  Duties include preparing reports in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with state and foreign regulations, which requires regulatory and legal analysis and interpretation and a working knowledge of financial accounting and data set analysis. This position will interact directly and frequently with regulators and work directly cross-functionally with internal stakeholders.  Additionally, this position will be supporting the Regulatory and Compliance Risk Manager in the areas of supervisory exam management, escheatment, and risk assessments.

The position will be responsible for regulatory reporting across Circle’s primary entities in the US, EU, UK and Bermuda, with an emphasis on individual U.S. state reporting.

What you’ll work on:

• Prepare monthly / quarterly / annual and ad-hoc regulatory reports including but not limited to annual reports at both the entity and licensing level, annual business registration and license renewals, and quarterly financial reporting 
• Reconcile and cross-check reporting data sets and perform analysis to ensure accuracy 
• Ensure any changes to the reporting regulations made by state or federal regulatory authorities are incorporated into reporting processes
• Be the primary point of contact and “face of the organization” to external regulators regarding reporting matters
• Coordinate with multiple stakeholders across organization
• Support management and team members
• Prepare and meet deadlines for the submission of reports to regulatory authorities with accurate data and financial information and maintain back-up supporting documents and folders
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial / regulatory reporting requirements and communicate these changes as needed to internal stakeholders, proposing any solutions if required 
• Provide back-up support to management

• 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal or in financial institution regulatory reporting

• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to design and test IT general controls
• Support the success of SOC 1, SOC 2, and financial audits
• Conduct risk assessments and perform controls design reviews for Circle’s business processes, new initiatives, and third party partners and vendors
• Design key controls to mitigate assessed risk based on Circle’s business requirements and risk tolerance
• Use industry standards such as the NIST CyberSecurity Framework and ISO 27002 to ensure comprehensive control coverage
• Document control narratives for use by both internal and external constituents
• Design and execute control tests to verify operating effectiveness and monitor control performance
• Own and build relationships with key external stakeholders such as customers, vendors, and auditors
• Support independent auditors with knowledge transfer of control narratives and evidence collection
• Produce data-based reports on the comprehensiveness and effectiveness of IT general controls
• Drive continuous improvement around control operating effectiveness

What you’ll bring to Circle:

• Familiarity with cloud computing environments such as AWS and Google a plus
• Experience working in financial services or financial technology a plus
• Experience working with GRC platforms such as Archer, MetricStream, or ProcessUnity a plus
• Three or more years of experience building and testing IT general controls or as an IT auditor.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration or related field.  Equivalent experience also accepted 
• Certifications such as CISA, CISM, CISSP or similar will receive favorable consideration but are not required

This role will be responsible to help define the content strategy, write copy, manage the monthly calendar, perform industry research and coordinate with various internal stakeholders to collect info needed. To be successful you will need to gain a significant understanding about the blockchain space and come up with innovative content ideas and write engaging copy to excite the community. 

You need to be a passionate content writer and creator who can think out of the box and be able to successfully convey what’s unique about NEAR to both technical and non technical audiences. This is a full-time ,remote role. 

Responsibilities:

• Participate in building NEAR’s content strategy, formulating the USPs and coming up with unique content angles
• Proofread and write content for blog posts, ads, press releases, articles, infographics, studies, website, etc
• Manage the editorial calendar and ensure timely publication
• Perform basic SEO keyword research and incorporate the findings in the copy
• Produce ideas for new content formats
• Measure content performance 
• Produce relevant content targeting both technical and non technical audiences

Requirements:
